Join artist Chris Pothof in our Wood Carving For Beginners Workshop - Wooden Spoon Carving
In this workshop you will learn how to carve a wooden cooking spoon from a prepared spoon blank.
You'll learn how to use a wood carving knife and other tools safely and efficiently as well as how to source and process greenwood.
The appeal of spoon carving is that it is a very accessible hobby with minimal outlay to get started. As well having a wooden spoon when you are finished you will discover that there is far more to this humble craft than meets the eye like mindfulness, community and problem solving.
All tools and materials are supplied on the day (if you already own tools we recommend that you bring them with you).
PLEASE NOTE: This class is suitable for age 12 and over and for safety reasons, we request that guests wear fully enclosed shoes and have legs covered.
This is an adult open age class but is suitable for age 12 plus and no previous experience is necessary however children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Chris Pothof AKA The Wood Tamer has been hooked on carving since he carved his first spoon in 2016. He loves sharing his love of carving with people of all ages. In 2019 he and his wife started an online store for carvers. Over the years they have met and learned from some amazing teachers and toolmakers and felt it would be great to share their talents with other budding carvers. Chris’ style of teaching is very calm and relaxed and he will carve a spoon with you as any opportunity to carve is a good opportunity.
