Escape to the coast without leaving the studio in our Tide Line Marine Life Watercolour Workshop. Inspired by the shoreline and the fascinating creatures that call it home, this relaxing creative experience invites you to slow down, observe nature and paint your own collection of beautiful miniature artworks.
Using a carefully selected acrylic palette of ocean blues, soft greys, sandy yellows and earthy browns, you'll explore the colours and textures of marine life while learning simple watercolour techniques from artist Sunny South.
Drawing inspiration from oyster shells, driftwood, illustrated marine life books and the intricate works of natural history artists such as Ernst Haeckel, you'll create a series of hand painted postcards and bookmarks featuring sea creatures including jellyfish, fish, octopus, starfish, shells and other coastal treasures.
Throughout the workshop, Sunny will guide you through composition, colour mixing and brush techniques in a relaxed, supportive environment. You'll also receive an illustrated reference sheet of sea creature outlines to continue painting at home.
Whether you're new to painting or already enjoy it as a past time, this workshop is designed to inspire creativity while celebrating the beauty of Australia's marine life.
During the workshop you will explore:
- How to create a pleasing still life composition using classic artistic principles including proportion, balance and focal points.
- How to mix and apply acrylic paint colours to build light, shade and depth.
- Techniques to create texture, contrast and form in your painting.
- Ways to incorporate fine details and finishing touches that elevate your artwork.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
- Open age class – suitable for ages 12+
- As this is an open age class - children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Your space in a class is reserved only once full payment has been received.
Our workshop tickets are non refundable, but if you are aware you will be unable to attend, you may pass your ticket to someone else you wish to come in your place.
We do require a minimum number of people to run each class. In the rare event we do not meet the minimum numbers required to run a class, you will be offered your choice of a class transfer to a new date or a full refund.
In the event you forget to come or you are unable to attend a workshop, the ticket is non transferable after the event.
Whilst arriving, attending and leaving the workshops, it is your responsibility to ensure that you maintain and adhere to all safety precautions and requirements during the workshop.
