Botanical Dyeing Workshop – Learn Natural Dye Techniques in this beautiful class.
Step into a slower, more mindful way of creating and discover the magic of botanical dyeing in this hands-on workshop with facilitator Britt Johnson.
In this beautiful and therapeutic class, you will learn how to dye fabric using natural materials such as botanicals, plant extracts and edible dyestuffs. Botanical dyeing is a centuries-old technique that transforms everyday fabrics into unique works of art using colours derived directly from nature.
Perfect for beginners and curious creatives alike, this natural dye workshop in Sydney invites you to explore colour, texture and pattern while reconnecting with the calming rhythm of working with natural materials.
Throughout the session Britt will guide you through the foundations of natural dyeing and eco dyeing techniques, including how to prepare a dye pot, how different plants create different colours, and how folding and wrapping fabrics can create beautiful organic patterns.
You will also learn about the fascinating properties of various natural dyestuffs used in botanical dyeing, and experiment with a range of methods to produce your own unique results.
By the end of the workshop you will leave with a personal dye diary, a curated collection of silk swatches showcasing your dye experiments, along with a stunning botanically dyed silk scarf as your final piece.
This creative experience is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself in nature inspired art and learn a skill you can continue exploring at home.
