ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

Kate Caicedo-Shanks is a designer and metalsmith, as well as the founder of contemporary Jewellery brand Smith And Poet. Kate is a local on the Northern Beaches with her studio here in Newport. With a family history in the jewellery trade Kate grew up around rolling mills and soldering blocks. Her global travels, international jewellery studies and exhibits continually ignite a fascination with the connection between metalworking and storytelling. Kate fell in love with the bolo tie and the adventurous spirit it embodies. Collections of rings, earrings and bracelets followed. Smith and Poet emerged from her desire to explore possibilities, create unique beautiful designs and most importantly, share this with others whilst having lots of fun along the way.
