In this hands on class you will learn the traditional process of making handmade paper from scratch using recycled papers. Susan will guide you through preparing your pulp, pulling sheets of paper and exploring creative ways to embed natural materials.
You will experiment with dried and fresh flowers, raw cotton from the cotton fields of NSW, natural fibres and colours to create unique pieces of handmade stationery.
During the workshop you will learn how to:
- Learn how to prepare pulp from recycled paper
- Pull and form sheets of handmade paper
- Embed flowers, fibres and natural materials
- Create plantable gift tags by adding seeds
- Emboss and texture your paper
As part of the creative process you will also sculpt a beautiful textured paper bowl using raw cotton, threads and handmade paper.
To complete the experience, you will create a charming little paper village house with a tea light, a magical piece that glows softly when illuminated.
