Join our special Christmas Watercolour Paint & Stitch class with artist Sandy Cousens.
Whether you are a beginner or watercolour and embroidery enthusiast this workshop aims to provide you with the framework to create a cosy, calming mixed media artwork you can be proud of whilst giving you a short mindful escape for the busyness of the festive season.
The benefits of this workshop aren't just about the use of watercolour and introductory to embroidery, but also to explore the benefits of embracing multiple mediums to create impact and interest. Both watercolours and embroidery are two very powerful ways for mindfulness and finding calm.
What you will learn on the day:
- A brief watercolour mini class (ideal for those new to this medium as well as a refresher for those familiar). The class will begin with an introduction to the two main techniques to give you confidence.
- Ways to make your watercolour artwork 'pop'
- Introducing you to the joys of embroidery and knowing how to do 'french knots'
- Exploring how the use of mixing media such as embroidery with watercolour can truly bring joy and dimensional interest to your art.
- Creative ways to frame your art and edge your paper to further celebrate your beautiful artwork.
- Completed drawings on quality watercolour paper will be provided to you so that you can just concentrate on your painting and embroidery.
Please Note: This class will be held in Studio 2 which is upstairs and unfortunately does not have wheelchair access.
This is an adult open age class but is suitable for age 10 plus and no previous experience is necessary however children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
All materials and light refreshments will be provided.
