ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Louise Waddington is an embroidery artist with 30 years experience living on Sydney's Northern Beaches. In recent years I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy specialised embroidery classes with world renown teachers in the UK, India and here in Australia and would love to pass on some of the knowledge I’ve accumulated. My main inspiration comes from the rich history of embroidery especially 16th century Elizabethan styles and the way it provides a fascinating insight into the lives and livelihoods of past generations.
I’m passionate about techniques and methods of stitching but am keen to pass on the art in an uncomplicated way without fuss and stress over unnecessary details. I believe the stitching experience should be fun for anyone who wants to just “give it a go”. The joy and pride in making something with your hands is quite special and very rewarding. I’m so happy that there are a huge number of young stitchers breathing new life into this art form with fresh ideas and amazing skills to keep embroidery alive and relevant today.
