Brooke is a Southern Highlands Artist raised in Burrawang NSW. She studied a Bachelor of Creative Arts Fine Arts at Wollongong University and majored in Sculptural Textiles.
Brooke’s greatest influence and inspiration was the late artist Virginia Kaiser, who taught at the University during Brooke’s studies. Other art influences are Australian artists Bronwyn Oliver and Rosalie Gascoigne. Brooke draws inspiration from nature, femininity and traditional crafts. Her sculptural forms feature traditional basketry techniques such as weaving, coiling and twining, with an emphasis on texture and form and are made from a combination of found materials with natural fibre.
Brooke, with her husband Colin, designs and creates handmade homewares and objets d’art for their small business Mr and Mrs Munro. They live in the small rural village of Burrawang NSW with their two daughters. Brooke will be holding a few styles of workshops with us ... all around weaving and creating stunning baskets or artworks
