About your Tutor;
Louise Proost is a self taught mosaic artist, originating from Johannesburg, South Africa.
Whist in South Africa, she focused on commissioned house numbers, bathroom mosaics and workshops.
After emigrating in 2005, she focused on family commitments up until 2015.
Her first major portrait work began as an ode to Nelson Mandela, a courtyard mural. This piece provoked an interest amongst her peers and soon commissioned work commenced repeatedly. Louise is predominantly a portrait mosaic artist, replicating images of celebrities, loved ones, famous artworks. These include works by Trechikoff, Vermeer, Hokusai, Van Hamersveld and Banksy.
Commissioned work in the form of landscapes, animals and botanical images are also part of her portfolio.
Louise resumed teaching mosaic classes at the end of 2015, with groups ranging from 5-15 students at a time.
